I was recently asked if I could paint with oils or acrylics on canvas. With close to no experience at painting with a paintbrush (I did an oil painting of a bouquet of flowers when I was about ten) I wasn't sure what to expect of myself.
(A side point: I was later made aware of the fact that one of the world's most famous and most viewed paintings (by Michelangelo) was painted with no previous experience in painting. He had been a sculptor until then. It took him four years to complete and it was painted on to the ceiling in the Vatican while lying on his back hanging off it.)
Here was an opportunity for me where someone was willing to pay me to paint because he trusted that I can do it.
If you don't try, you don't learn. And here was a chance to grab. So I decided to challenge myself and have a go at it.
The result (with G-d's help):
Der Boyaner - acrylic on stretched canvas 70 cm by 50 cm
and a close up
